Columbus Santa Maria, Inc and the Thought of Infinity Group To Open Invisibility Exhibit
Dateline, Columbus,OH: Beginning in mid-June, The Thought of Infinity Group think tank will begin installation of a permanent exhibit entitled The Santa Maria Experiment at the Santa Maria Seeds of Change Education and Visitor Center in downtown Columbus, OH on the riverfront. The exhibit will feature two display panels showing the scientific research led by R&D engineer Marshall Barnes in 1994 that proved that refraction of light would make solid, opaque objects look invisible, proving true the statements given by an anonymous scientist to writer William Moore back in the late 1970s. The Santa Maria replica was the largest object that Marshall tested this theory on, resulting in photographs and video tape which have astounded people across the U.S., Canada and beyond.
The exhibit will feature a variety of newspaper articles featuring the Santa Maria photographs as well as scientific diagrams explaining how the process is accomplished. This approach is so unique that Marshall was invited to give a symposium on it in 1996 at Columbus State Community College that was sponsored by its biological and physical sciences department.
Also included with the exhibit will be a DVD that people can watch there at the center, as well as purchase a home video version at the souvenir counter, along with post cards and a booklet on the research. Actress Rhoda Cronenbach http://www.imdb.com/name/nm2214261/ has been selected to host the DVD which will be called The Santa Maria Experiment and Rainbow Invisibility.
Columbus Santa Maria, Inc already has its own sponsors that help it operate, which include Kroger, Staffmate Online, AEP, Gregory Electric, and Environmental Management Services, Inc. among others. This new project presents a unique opportunity for sponsors to get high visibility even when the Visitor Education Center is closed during the off season. Sponsors will have their logos appear at the display area as well as on the covers of the DVD and booklet and on the back of the post cards. They will also be listed on the web site that will be launched and have links to their own sites from there. The Santa Maria Experiment web site will be linked as well from the official Columbus Santa Maria, Inc web site at www.santamaria.org . Already the Robert Weiler Company www.rweiler.com and Grandview Chiropractic http://www.cols-yellowpages.com/clients/32569.html have signed on with many others considering it as well. The retail mark-up on the products will go toward the maintenance of the Santa Maria Seeds of Change Education and Visitor Center.
The exhibit will get international attention due to the intense current interest in invisibility research. A recent CNN poll asked whether the search for invisibility technology would ever be productive and 87% of nearly 4,000 respondents answered that they believed that it would. A search at Yahoo! using the words \"scientists\" and \"invisibility\" rendered dozens of hit from such news agencies as MSNBC, FOX News, ABC News, Space.com, USA Today, LiveScience.com, National Geographic, The New York Times, The Seattle Times and the BBC among many others. The press agency Fame Plan has been hired to handle the publicity on the project which is expected to draw well over 1,000,000 hits in a year to well over 100 hundred American newspaper and news outlets sites across the web with dozens more in the English speaking world and beyond. The Santa Maria Experiment is unique in that it is not theoretical, as most of the news reports on scientific research into invisibility technology are, but is functional and practical applications are being pursued now by Marshall that have potential uses in law enforcement, military, hunting and beyond.
\"This exhibit is just the beginning of a new wave of projects that will put Columbus on the map as a true 21st Century center for creative technology and research,\" Marshall says. \"The Thought of Infinity has more planned for 2008 and beyond."
